Friends' Spring Book and Bake Sale Saturday, May 21st from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Stop by the library's meeting room to pick up some bargain books and tasty treats! All proceeds go to the Friends of the Pembroke Public Library and are used to fund "extras" for the library including discounted museum passes, bestsellers, items for our Library of Things, and programs for all ages.

Pembroke Public Library Book Club Tuesday, May 3rd from 6:30-7:30 p.m. For our May meeting the PPL Book Club is reading The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner, a debut novel of secrets, vengeance, and the remarkable ways women can save each other despite the barrier of time. Yoga Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Led by Barbara Ward and other instructors from the YogaConnection of Plymouth. Open to all levels. A single-class drop-in is $12 and a four-class registration is $45 ($35 for Friends members). Friends members can also purchase an eight-class punch ticket for $80, which is valid for three months.

Afternoon Tea with the Etiquette Expert of 1890 Saturday, May 14th from 2-3 p.m. Ladies, raise your skirts (ankle-high only, please). Gentlemen, tip your hats - we are stepping into Victorian America! Join us for a promenade through the era of corsets, calling cards, and decorum. Sip and nibble as you discover the essentials needed to conduct yourself properly in the Age of Gentility. Topics included tea etiquette, fan language, fashion, courtship scandals, and more. The Etiquette Expert of 1890 will be performed by Janet Parnes of Historical Portrayals by Lady J, Millis. Please register in advance through our online events calendar.

Teen Take-and-Make: Spring Animal Decoration Available beginning May 2nd while supplies last We know teens are busy with school, work, chores, and more so we're giving you an opportunity to craft on your own time. Pick up a Craft Kit in the YA Lounge and create a cute sheep or chick for spring!

Storytime Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers (ages 2-5) and their caregivers can enjoy an interactive storytime with songs, dances, games, and stories that encourage language development and social skills. Each themed storytime is followed by a craft.

Raising a Reader Thursdays May 5th - June 9th from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Raising a Reader with Big Ryan of Big Ryan’s Tall Tales welcomes all parents and their children (3-5 years) to come to this 6-week series on making stories where language comes alive. Registration required; spaces are limited. We ask that you only register if you are able to attend all or most of the workshops as each session builds upon the previous one. LEGO Club Tuesday, May 10th from 4-5 p.m. Kids ages 5+ are welcome to visit and build with the library LEGOs. Bring your neighbors, big siblings, and school friends! LEGO Club is designed to give kids a safe, creative environment in which they can freely build with LEGOs, interact with peers, and express themselves.

Baby Lapsit Thursdays May 12th and 26th at 10:30 a.m. Designed for babies and toddlers from 6 to 24 months, Lapsits are a great chance for caregivers to bond with their child while learning new rhymes and stories to share. Each program includes stretches, music, a story, and more followed by an open play time.

Puppy Dog Tales Thursday, May 19th from 4:15-5:00 p.m. Readers of all ages may read to a certified therapy dog to develop their literacy and presentation skills as well as build confidence and self-esteem. Our dogs and trainers provide a supportive environment to practice reading aloud. This is a drop-in event.

Kids' Puzzle Race Tuesday, May 24th at 4 p.m. Race against the clock and other builders as you work to complete a 100-piece puzzle. Kids (ages 8-12) may compete solo or in teams.
