Pembroke Public Library Book Club Tuesday, August 1st from 6:30-7:30 p.m. For our August meeting the PPL Book Club is reading The It Girl by Ruth Ware, "an unputdownable mystery following a woman on the search for answers a decade after her friend’s murder." Adult Craft Night: DIY Journals Thursday, August 3rd from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Journaling is a great way to find your voice, and we have the tools to help you get started! Miss Kiki will provide guidance, but feel free to get creative and decorate your journal in any way you want. Supplies (including blank journals) will be provided. Space is limited. Genealogy Night Tuesday, August 29th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Are you interested in finding out more about your genealogy? Do you have a cool story about one of your ancestors you want to share? Join in our monthly Genealogy Night to chat with other family history buffs! All are welcome to attend, from experienced researchers who would like to share tips or stories about great finds, to beginners who want to learn more about the research process and online resources. Library laptops will be available to explore Ancestry Library Edition.

August Teen Take-And-Make: Ramen Bowls Available beginning July 1st while supplies last We know teens are busy with school, work, chores, and more so we're giving you an opportunity to craft on your own time. Pick up a Craft Kit in the YA Lounge and create a ramen bowl from foam and pipe cleaners!

Storytime Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers (ages 2-5) and their caregivers can enjoy an interactive storytime with songs, dances, games, and stories that encourage language development and social skills. Each themed storytime is followed by a craft.

Baby Lapsit Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Designed for babies and toddlers from 6 to 24 months, Lapsits are a great chance for caregivers to bond with their child while learning new rhymes and stories to share. Each program includes stretches, music, a story, and more followed by an open play time.

LEGO Club Tuesday, August 8th from 4-5 p.m. Kids ages 5+ are welcome to visit and build with the library LEGOs. Bring your neighbors, big siblings, and school friends! LEGO Club is designed to give kids a safe, creative environment in which they can freely build with LEGOs, interact with peers, and express themselves. This month's theme is "Lost in Space"

Anime Club Thursday, August 10th from 4-5 p.m. Ages 11-15 are invited to watch anime, snack, craft and socialize. This month watch episodes from InuYasha (TV-14) and craft miniature bento boxes. This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed.

Spanish Storytime Friday, August 11th from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Ages 1-5 and their caregivers are welcome to join us for a Spanish storytime and craft featuring "La tortuga que quería dormir" ("The Turtle Who Wanted to Sleep") by Roberto Aliaga. Chess Club Wednesday, August 16th from 4-5 p.m. All ages* and skill levels can learn and play chess at the library. Whether you have been playing for years or want to start playing for the first time, you’re welcome to join us. This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed. *Children under age 8 must be accompanied by someone over age 13 at all times.

Puppy Dog Tales Thursday, August 17th from 4:15-5:00 p.m. Readers of all ages may read to a certified therapy dog to develop their literacy and presentation skills as well as build confidence and self-esteem. Our dogs and trainers provide a supportive environment to practice reading aloud. This is a drop-in event.

Tie Dye DIY Monday, August 21st from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Ages 12-18 are invited to tie-dye a drawstring bag for carrying your books, beach towels, and more. Teens are also welcome to bring one white cotton item from home to tie-dye as well (shirt, pillowcase, mask, etc.) No rain date.
