The Chicken Sisters

Men Explain Things to Me
by Rebecca Solnit

In her comic, scathing essay "Men Explain Things to Me," Solnit took on what often goes wrong in conversations between men and women, airing some of her own hilariously awful encounters. This book features that now-classic essay with six perfect complements, including an examination of the great feminist writer Virginia Woolf 's embrace of mystery.

A Swim in a Pond in the Rain: In Which Four Russians Give a Master Class on Writing, Reading, and Life
by George Saunders

Helpful-to-Know Info
Libraries have a long history of connecting people to the information they seek. A modern twist on this tradition, now necessary in our age of information overload, has libraries sifting through the information noise to find and highlight the best material. Here's our most Helpful-to-Know Info for April.

Coming Soon: The Emergency Broadband Benefit

COVID Scam Helpline

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has set up a new toll-free telephone number (877-355-0213) for tips on how to avoid COVID vaccine scams. If you call the Helpline, you will hear tips such as these in English or Spanish:
  1. You can’t pay to put your name on a list to get the vaccine. That’s a scam.
  2. You can’t pay to get early access to the vaccine. That’s a scam.
  3. Nobody legit will call, text, or email about the vaccine and ask for your Social Security, bank account, or credit card number. That’s a scam.
See the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's resources on how to prevent coronavirus-related scams and protect your finances during the pandemic.

Free Weekly Credit Report Extended

It’s easier than ever to check your credit more often. That’s because everyone is eligible to get free weekly credit reports until April 20, 2022 from the three national credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian, and Transunion. To get your free reports, go to AnnualCreditReport.com.
