The display features a variety of textiles and fibers with descriptions, images and props illustrating the cloth-making process.
From cotton and linen to cashmere and angora, swatches of fabric are mingled with samples of woven, knitted, felted and crocheted textiles. Exhibit visitors will discover an assortment of looms and spinning tools as well as a range of fiber art creations, such as clothing, bowls, handbags, bracelets, and decorative art pieces.
Included is some history of the Guild started in 1982 by four weavers and spinners interested in sharing, teaching and promoting fiber arts. Today, the Guild meets monthly at the county extension office and includes about 50 members from Butler, Armstrong, Allegheny, Westmoreland, Mercer, Clarion, Indiana and Washington counties.
The work of artists and artisans is featured in the second-floor showcases at the Butler Area Public Library, 218 North McKean St., Butler. For information, contact 724-287-1715 or visit www.facebook.com/ButlerAreaPublicLibrary.

Not to scare you but the gift giving season is upon us and the Friends of the Library’s bookstore is a great way to shop for your favorite reader. And making this sale even better—ALL paperback FICTION will be ON SALE, 3 books for $1.
All other genres in paperback will continue to be 50c each, and as always, kid books are 25c. Books wrapped together are priced separately and not part of the sale.
Finally, we have opened the bookstore on Wednesdays, from noon to 2:30 pm. So the bookstore is open three days a week: Mondays from 11 am to 3 pm and Thursdays from 2 to 5 pm. We are also going to open the store on Saturday, December 10th, from 10 am to 2 pm.
