Owl Pellet Dissecting
August 4, 1pm
Facebook and Beanstack

Did you know that owls cough up hairballs? Well, kind of... After an owl eats, they are unable to digest things like hair and bones and so they cough up pellets. If you cut into one of these, you can find evidence of what the owl has been eating! We are supplying owl pellets for grades 4-12 starting on August 2. These will be first come, first served and will only be available while supplies last. We ask that you take only one pellet per student. The kit will come with everything you need to perform your dissection.
Check out our Facebook or Beanstack on August 4 for a special video about your pellet presented by Jennings Environmental Education Center!

Friends of the Library Update

A great big “THANK YOU!” to all the people who came out in July for our $5 bag sale. It was such a success that we’ve decided to continue it into August. The August $5 a bag sale will be smaller, and will be held inside our bookstore, located on the first floor of the library, in the former reading room.
Please note—the store is only open twice a week: Mondays from 11 am to 3 pm and Thursdays from 2 pm to 5:30 pm.
We will start accepting donations in September. We ask that you try to bring your materials in on Mondays or Thursdays when we are in the store and able to sort through them immediately instead of allowing them to build up in the library’s back room, where it gets very crowded very quickly. And please, don’t bring in more than two or three boxes at a time. Our store isn’t that big, and we don’t have a large staff to process a lot of books. We appreciate your generosity and look forward to having new books to offer!
We are no longer accepting oversized books, magazines, especially National Geographics, and travel books. Sadly, they do not sell and end up in the trash. Consider donating these to thrift stores, since they have the ability to send stock to their other stores.
We will continue to offer fiction, history, cookbooks, kid books, CDs, DVDs, audio books, and specialty sales.
For questions or concerns, please contact Maggie: msouzer@yahoo.com OR 724-282-6246
