National Library Week: April 4-10

Join us as we celebrate National Library Week with a variety of take home activities and giveaways!

Other Ways to Celebrate National Library Week:

1. Visit your library in person or online
Whether you're visiting in person or virtually, libraries offer the opportunity to explore new worlds through access to technology, multimedia content, and educational programs. Take time to connect with your library during National Library Week to see all they have to offer.

2. Participate in the ALA #MyLibraryIs promotion on social media
Celebrate National Library Week 2021 by sharing what you love about the resources and services available at your library. Post to Instagram, Twitter, or on the I Love Libraries Facebook page,  about an e-book, audiobook, virtual storytime or bookclub, or how your library has made a difference while you've been social distancing at home. Use the hashtag #MyLibraryIs.  ALA will gather all the entries, and one randomly selected winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card.  The promotion starts Sunday, April 4 at noon CT and ends on Saturday, April 10 at noon CT. Don’t forget to tag your library!
If you love your library, say it loud and proud: vocal community support helps libraries secure much-needed funding and reminds hardworking library staff that their efforts are appreciated. Participating in the #MyLibraryIs promotion is a quick, easy way to help your library thrive!

3. Follow your library, ALA, and I Love Libraries on social media
Be sure to follow your library on social media so you don't miss out on all they have to offer, including the most reliable information about keeping your family safe during these uncertain times.
Post to your social media account and join the conversation by using the hashtags #NationalLibraryWeek and #LibrariesTransform.

Friends of the Library Update
Mark your calendars: April 5. Why? The Friends of the Butler Library are excited to announce the opening of our new store, located in the “Reading Room” by the stairwell.
The store will not have the large number of books seen in our two yearly sales, but the Friends have stocked the shelves with many old favorites like fiction, history, cookbooks, kid books and some interesting specialty sales.

The room is wheelchair-friendly, but due to size, and concern over COVID-19, we will be limiting the amount of people allowed in the room at one time. MASKS MUST WORN! There will also be a time limit on browsing if there are a lot of people waiting to get in. Please be patient with us as we figure out how to run a bookstore and best serve the health of library patrons and the Library Friends.

Prices have not changed; you can still get a hardcover for $1 and a paperback for 50¢, and children’s books are 25¢. Specialty sales will be individually priced. CASH ONLY. No checks or credit cards will be accepted and we ask you to have exact change as much as possible. We will not be able to break big bills.

Currently, the store will be open twice a week: Mondays from 11 am to 3 pm and Thursday from 2 pm to 5:30 pm.

Sadly, we can NOT accept donates. Due to safety concerns, we have no place to quarantine the books, a practice being followed by most libraries across the nation.

The Library Friends are excited for this new opportunity to sell used books. We have been making changes on how we do things and hope the library community will join in with making this work.
For questions or concerns, please contact Maggie: msouzer@yahoo.com OR 724-282-6246
