S.T.E.M. Smackdown Bookclub

Kids in grades K-3 are invited to join our new online STEM Smackdown Book Club!
For each session, we will meet on Zoom to discuss a different book from the STEM Smackdown series, available on Hoopla, and complete a STEM activity.
Our November session will be Wednesday, November 19 at 4 pm. We will discuss the book "Who Invented the Television", by Karen Latchana Kennedy.
Students should check the book out on Hoopla and have it read before the session. Beginning Monday, November 17, students can also pick up the corresponding activity pack here at the library.

Teen NaNoWriMo Club & Contest

We are hosting a virtual Teen Writing Club for the month of November to celebrate NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). The official goal for NaNoWriMo is to write 30,000 words in 30 days to complete a novel, novella, collection of poems or short stories, memoir, etc. We are asking our teens to try for 20,000 words. We will meet every Tuesday at 5pm through the YA Discord server. At each meeting, we will have a short lesson on writing, share our progress, and spread encouragement. Please contact Tristyn at tparker@bcfls.org to register or receive an invite link to the server. All participants who complete their word quota will win a prize!

Tween Comic Book Club

Tween fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender may wish to join our virtual Comic Book Club! We will be reading all three parts of Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Search, which are available for free through Hoopla! The club will meet every other Thursday at 5pm through Google Meet. YA Gaming Guild

For grades 4 - 12, the YA Gaming Guild is scheduled to meet on Saturdays Nov. 14 and Nov. 28 at 1pm through our Discord server. The topic of discussion will be the timing and frequency of future meetings, as well as online gaming platforms that can be utilized for the remainder of the year.

Mug Mondays

The BAPL YA Zone presents Mug Mondays! Beginning on November 9, we will be posting videos to our YouTube page to show tweens and teens how to cook simply with a mug, a microwave, and some simple ingredients. Tweens and teens can come pick up a free mug at Tristyn's desk to start their cooking journey (while supplies last). Keep an eye out for new exciting recipes every other Monday!
