discover life's possibilities | November

... It had all the 'novel' ideas!

Around this time last year, I noticed I was feeling a little strange. Was it something in the air? I couldn’t help but notice certain small things around me. The way the sun would hit the waves, transforming the water from steely grey to glowing turquoise before my eyes. The fragile beauty of a spider’s web, glistening with the first hint of frost. The song of a white-crowned sparrow atop a prickly bush, singing sweet tunes up to the vast sky. There came a point in which I could not avoid the truth any longer. They say that admitting the problem is the first step, so it was time to fess up: I wanted to try writing poetry. Very possibly, terrible poetry. I notified family and friends, and they took the news well, all things considered.

A year later, I’m still writing poetry (and as promised, it is sometimes terrible), but I’m also starting to feel that urge again. Something in the crisp autumnal air gives me the creative zoomies, and I want to MAKE SOMETHING. Fortunately, the library has a lot to offer someone in this predicament. With a wealth of resources for creative inspiration, instruction, and community, we offer many ways to jumpstart your creativity. If you find yourself filled with creative energy, I invite you to come find your outlet at the library. Come join us, and make something amazing!
