West Portal
by Benjamin Gucciardi

West Portal investigates the Bay Area's urban and rural landscapes along with the memories and people that reside there. Interweaving the narrative of the death of the poet's sister with the environmental and socioeconomic realities of the current moment, the poems in West Portal illuminate the experience of loss, and the attempt to create meaning in the wake of devastation.

Even today, they continue to thrill, terrify, entertain and inspire us. They have filled folklore, stories, songs and works of art. They may even be able to protect us—from viruses.

Sicat has worked on numerous feature films as a director, writer and /or producer. His award-winning films include Tigodon, Ka Oryang, The Gorilla is a Poet, Women of the Ruins and Alimuom. His films range from historical dramas, documentaries, tropical gothic art films to science fiction.
