Summer Reading Kick-off Party and Concert: The Library is excited to announce the Summer Reading Kick-off Party will be held on Saturday, June 2 at 3:00 PM in the auditorium at Borough Hall! We'd hoped to hold the concert on the library's lawn but weather is not promising to cooperate. This two-part family oriented program will include a performance of Prokofiev’s classic, “Peter and the Wolf” by Symphony in C's Whitman Winds Ensemble, and enable children to see musical instruments up close, encouraging a life-long appreciation of music. Our thanks to the Rotary Club of Haddonfield and the Haddonfield Friends of the Library for generously making this program possible! |
Featured EventKing John is best known to Americans as the king you love to hate. He has long been one of our favorite Hollywood villains. There are two extant plays from the Elizabethan period that have King John as their title character: The Troublesome Reign of King John and The Life and Death of King John. Both plays are attributed to Shakespeare – at least apocryphally. The controversy over whether Shakespeare had a hand in each play has led to a stage tradition of using passages from Troublesome Reign in productions of The Life and Death. This is a tradition that we at the ASC are continuing, thus assuring a truly apocryphal production! We hope you will attend and witness John’s terrible and retributive fate. The ASC knocked it out of the park with their last production at the Library! Don't miss them this time around. Seating is limited so registration is required.
