Limited Sunday Hours in 2024! Starting next month and running from January 7 through May 19, Ventress Memorial Library will have limited Sunday hours from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We look forward to serving you with our expanded schedule.
 
Thank You, Friends of the Ventress Memorial Library! We also want to send a huge thank you to our amazing Friends group for donating $5000 to the library to support collections and programs. We receive less than 1% of the town’s budget, and we couldn’t do all we do without this hardworking group of individuals!
 
Tell us your favorite read of 2023! We are making a list of top patron reads of the year! We will share this list on social media and in our next newsletter! All books count: fiction, nonfiction, genre fiction, cookbooks, graphic novels, audiobooks, ebooks, picture books. This is open to ALL AGES. One submission per person. Submit your answer by the end of the month for your book to be in the list.

Robert B. Kaplan Trust Concert Series
with Rasa String Quartet
Saturday, December 9 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.
Join us for a festive performance by the award-winning Rasa String Quartet - the inaugural concert for our Robert B. Kaplan Trust Concert Series. In this special performance, "Strum," the Rasa String Quartet celebrates the art of strumming and works inspired by strummed instruments. This program pairs old masterworks from Beethoven, Debussy, and Turina alongside newly celebrated classics from Jessie Montgomery and Caroline Shaw. 
 
This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served! Don't miss this exciting, end of the year concert with the award-winning, Boston-based Rasa String Quartet! Find out more at rasastringquartet.com.
South of Boston Knitting Guild
Wednesday, December 12 from 3:15 - 5:15 p.m.
The South of Boston Knitting Guild meets the second Tuesday of every month from 3:15pm-5:15pm. If you knit or crochet or want help learning, come join us! All beginners and experienced crafters are welcome, just bring your projects and join the fun!
The children’s room is happy to welcome the winter months! Join us in December as we celebrate the
new season and the past this month!

Featured Kids Programs
Winter Story & Craft
Wednesday, December 13 & Monday, December 18
at 10:00 a.m.
This program will be offered two times this month! Once with Miss Jen on Wednesday and once with Miss Wendy on Monday! The craft will be the same for both programs.
Crafternoon
Wednesday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m.
Drop into the children’s program room to be a little crafty! There will be different crafting items available for children to use. This event is for school aged children in grades K-5. Children nine and older may attend on their own; anyone under nine must be with a caregiver.
Read to Rocko
Thursday, December 21 at 6:00 p.m.
Stop by between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. as we welcome Rocko and his owner Kim! This program allows each child to have a one-on-one session with Rocko. Children can pick a favorite book from home or the children's room. Spots are filled on a first come first served basis.
Winter Break Fun!
Winter Break Week at 2:00 p.m. 
 
December 27: 70's Day - Join us for a kids' Disco Dance Party! We'll have 70's crafts and music!
 
December 28: 80's Day - Come have fun at our kids glow in the dark party! We'll have 80's crafts and music, and glow sticks!
 
December 29: 90's Day - Join us for a fun, nostalgic 90's party for kids featuring classic 90's characters and music!

Our teen room and programs are open to folks ages 12-18. The Wave Makerspace is open to anyone age 12 and up by appointment - sign up today!

Free books! Teens are invited to stop by The Teen Zone to browse a wide assortment of ARCs (advanced reader copies) and take as many as you want home with you at no cost to you!
Mini Bookshelf Ornaments
Saturday, December 16 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Join us in The Teen Zone to decorate your own mini bookshelf and turn it into an ornament to hang from a tree, the ceiling, or even a larger bookshelf!
Teen Zone Book Swap Party!
Tuesday, December 19 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Join us in The Teen Zone for an end of the year book swap and pizza party! All books will be provided by the library so all you need to do is show up!
