Bethany Moody's practice grapples with the superabundance of material culture by reclaiming and retooling discarded objects from thrift stores, junk shops and friends’ homes. Necessarily worn and often dated single-use plastics, scratchy acrylic yarns, pilled clothing, stained sheets and stiff, stifling poly-blend fabrics foreground her work. These are the byproducts of our culture, fallout from ever-shifting trends that point to plasticity of desire and the discomfort of defunct modalities. Reworking this archive of waste becomes a framework for apprehending her own past as a material that can be reclaimed, cut up, mended, painted over and worked into. In the summer of 2019, Davis Little and Haleigh Black's paths converged, kindled by their shared love for music. Their bond deepened as they fell in love with both music and each other, embarking on a journey of songwriting and live performances as a violin and guitar duo.
