March 1 - 31 March is National Craft Month! It’s the perfect time to check out one of our latest digital resources, CreativeBug. They have thousands of instructor-led videos on crafts of all kinds, and you can access them all for free with your library card. We’re also holding a drawing this month. To enter, take a class on CreativeBug, then post a picture of your finished project to Facebook or Instagram using the hashtags #dearbornpubliclibrary and #creativebug, which will automatically enter you into the drawing.

Monday, March 15 Join local chef Mary Spencer for a virtual cooking demonstration. Mary will introduce and guide attendees through two approachable recipes for your instant pot: Creamy Tuscan Chicken Pasta and Middle Eastern Lentil Soup. This is for all levels of experience whether you're looking for more inspiration in the kitchen, or you're new to electric pressure cookers. Mary Spencer has been a culinary instructor for over 20 years. She's the owner of Taste: A cook's place in Northville, MI. Recipes will be provided to participants after the program. Talk with author Mark Harris 7:00pm The Dearborn Public Library, in collaboration with Literati Bookstore in Ann Arbor, will be hosting author and journalist Mark Harris for a virtual Zoom conversation regarding his new New York Times bestselling book Mike Nichols: A Life. Mr. Nichols was the director of well-known films such as Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The Graduate, Silkwood, Working Girl and Postcards from the Edge. Mr. Harris is the author of Pictures at a Revolution: Five Movies and the Birth of the New Hollywood (a New York Times Notable Book of 2008) and Five Came Back: A Story of Hollywood and the Second World War and is the former executive editor of Entertainment Weekly. University of Michigan Drama Professor Daniel Cantor will be interviewing Mr. Harris.

The Dearborn Public Library has moved our digital magazines from RBdigital to the Libby app. You will still to be able to browse, borrow, and enjoy all of the same great magazines you loved in the RBdigital app, now available in Libby (from OverDrive). RB Digital will be available through March 31, 2021. In just a few taps, you can start reading instantly on your phone or tablet. The digital library is available 24/7 without leaving home and is free from our library.

New Busy Bags are available at all Dearborn Public Libraries. Busy Bags are early literacy activities for pre-readers to help them get ready to read. Every child between the ages 3-5 may receive a Busy Bag. Limit one bag per child. March's busy bag theme is: Hickory Dickory Dock

Wednesday, March 10 4:30pm-5:30pm Gather your 2x4's, minifigs, and the rest of your building bricks to join our live challenges. Show off your skills while we collectively hum "Everything is awesome!". Did you get creative or try making a double decker couch? Inspire others with a show-and-tell. This program is for elementary school-aged children. You will need to use to your own building bricks. A Zoom log-in will be emailed to you after registration. No Kragle allowed!
