Updates that will take place while HFCL is closed: - Renovation of our mezzanine(third floor) to include a new conference room, several group study rooms, a makerspace, a computer lab and a digitization lab along with a few more single-person study booths
- The installation of a new energy efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system
- Replacement of existing lights with energy efficient lighting
- The renovation of the second floor restrooms
We also plan to reorganize the second floor layout of materials as well as adding additional electrical outlets, replacing the wallpaper and creating a first floor snack lounge with vending machines.

Garden ready: Seed Library is now open The Seed Library at the Dearborn Public Library is open to everyone in the community at no charge. Partnering with the Healthy Dearborn coalition, we provide vegetable and flower seeds, information and resources about growing and saving seeds and gardening. We hope that seed library patrons will return some seeds from their harvest to make the Seed Library self-sustaining. The Seed Library has been relocated to the Bryant Branch library during the HFCL renovation project.

In order to promote and encourage parents to read regularly with young children, we have begun participating in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Children who have not yet begun Kindergarten are encouraged to participate in this program at all Dearborn Library locations.
