#MYLIBRARY SOCIAL MEDIA CONTEST
Share what you love about the resources and services available at your library. Post to Instagram, Twitter, or on the I Love Libraries Facebook page, about how your library has made a difference for you. Use the hashtag #NationalLibraryWeek.
ALA will gather all the entries, and one randomly selected winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card. The promotion starts Sunday, April 3 at 1pm ET and ends on Saturday, April 9 at 1pm ET. Don't forget to tag your library!
Money Smart Week April 9 -16
Join Money Smart Week for a week of virtual financial capability programming Saturday, April 9 through Saturday, April 16, 2022.
This week-long free virtual campaign aims to help people better manage their personal finances with a focus on those hardest-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year's line-up includes:
  • Monday, April 11 @ 1:00 p.m. CT | Spend Smart. Eat Smart.
  • Tuesday, April 12 @ 1:00 p.m. CT | Credit: Build & Improve It!
  • Wednesday, April 13 @ 1:00 p.m. CT | Buying or Refinancing a Home: Options & Tools
  • Thursday, April 14 @ 1:00 p.m. CT | Understanding Social Security Benefits

Arab American Heritage Month Books  - In April, we celebrate the culture and contributions of Arab Americans.
420 Day  - Books and DVDs about cannabis, for the day people celebrate and promote legalization of the plant.
Hoppy Beer Day - April 7 is National Beer Day! It marks the day of the Cullen-Harrison Act, which allowed the sale of 4% ABV beer and led to the end of Prohibition. Celebrate responsibly with a pint and/or a book.

Seed Library at Mason Square Branch

The Mason Square Branch Seed Library features a variety of FREE 100% organic, non-GMO seeds for vegetables, greens, herbs, and flowers, made possible through a grant from Vermont-based seed company, High Mowing Organic Seeds. With multiple varieties, there’s something for everyone! Please call the Mason Square Branch Library to reserve your FREE seeds for pickup, and grab some gardening books too! SPRING FLOWER FRIENDS
April 19-30 | Open Hours | Children | East Forest Park Branch  We're celebrating spring by creating some colorful flowers with an assortment of craft supplies. All ages are welcome for this fun, family-friendly drop-in craft all week.
DIY STAINED GLASS SUN CATCHERS
Tuesday, April 19 | 12:30-4:30 PM | Ages 2-12 | Central Library Make your own "stained glass" sun catcher decorations using colorful tissue paper and string.
PIZZA SEED BOMB
Friday, April 22 | Open Hours | Ages 5-12 | East Springfield Branch 
Join us and make a Pizza Seed Bomb. We will put together seeds that would make for delicious pizza ingredients.  Drop-in craft all day.
COOKIE DECORATING PARTY

Come learn how to screenprint with local screenprinting business Paper City Clothing Company. Take home your very own printed tote bag with an original design! No registration required.

3D Design Workshop
Tuesday, April 19 | 3:00-4:30 PM | Ages 12-18
East Forest Park Branch -Makerspace
Join us for a hands-on workshop covering the basic features of 3D modeling software! You can even design your own object to be printed in the Makerspace! We'll be using library computers during the workshop, but the software is cloud-based and you can use it from home as well.

SPRINGFIELD LIFE DURING THE 1930S
Join Jacob White, intern and senior history major at Westfield State University, as he gives an informative presentation on the East Springfield neighborhood during the 1930s when the East Springfield Branch Library was constructed.
Spring Into Focus: Photography Workshop

Learn to Take Great Photos Using Only Your Phone!
 
Join us at the East Forest Park Library for a Photography Workshop! The focus of the workshop will be how to use photography and compositional techniques that will help anyone look like a pro – even taking pictures from your phone! We’re partnering with the Springfield Photographic Society to provide excellent, hands-on instruction during the workshop.
Beautiful Uplighting Added to The Springfield City Library!

Uplighting has been added to the 220 State Street building and is being called a "Beacon of Learning and Hope" by Mayor Domenic J. Sarno. Congressman Richard E. Neal said to Western Mass News, "When people go by, I think they'll be reminded of the beauty on the outside of the building, but also the learning that takes place inside."
