September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! Make sure to visit your local branch to get your very own card, or sign-up online. Gaining access to books, music, movies and so much more has never been easier- just ask our newest and littlest patron!
 
Elephant & Piggie Visit The Library!
September is National Library Card Month! Start the new school year right with the only card you'll ever need- a Springfield City Library card! Stop by the library to find out how easy it is for you to get library card- and join us for a visit and story from two of our favorite book buddies, Elephant and Piggie! Let's Talk About Money! A Financial Literacy Series for Adults
We are excited to host an interactive series about personal finance! The workshops help instill positive personal finance habits, while follow-up sessions include working with an expert one-on-one to boost your financial skills. Just getting started? No problem! Our workshops are for all experience levels.

DIY FALL HATS
Brightwood Branch
September 12 - 16 | 2:00-3:00 PM | Children & Teens
Fall like leaves into the Brightwood Branch where you can use many different materials in order to create a beautiful hat perfect for the fall! We will also have refreshments to get you into the fall mood.
Mindful Reading with Cadence the Dog
Sixteen Acres Branch
Saturdays: September 17, October 1, 29| 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM 
Calling all kids! Come to a mindfulness experience for emerging and practiced readers of all ages. The librarian will share a few relaxing stories with you and our special guests Megan and her certified therapy dog Cadence. After we read as a group, children are welcome to take a turn meeting Cadence and reading with her- she loves to hear stories of all kinds. Books will be available for read aloud or bring your own favorites. We'll meet outside but move indoors to the Children's Room in case of rain or extreme heat. Children 7 and under must be accompanied and consistently supervised by an adult.
Registration is strongly encouraged with drop-ins welcome as space allows.
TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY

Celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day with crafts, games, and other nautical nonsense. Stop by the Central Children's Room any time on Monday 9/19 to create treasure maps, write messages in bottles, decorate treasure chests, and of course, talk like pirates!
FLYING HIGH DOGS
East Forest Park Branch
Wednesday, September 21 | 4:00 - 5:00 PM | All Ages
Join us on the lawn outside of the East Forest Park Branch Library for an amazing show from some of the most athletic Border Collies on the planet. They'll perform with Mike Piazza, multiple world finalist and world record holder in K-9 Frisbee and the current #1 Professional K-9 Frisbee performer in the world! Bring your own blanket or lawn chair.

Join us for an afternoon of relaxing cookie decorating. All supplies are provided to make your cookies perfect, and delicious! We'll photograph your creations for social media! Ages 12-19 welcome!

Get creative and design your own coffee mug using multicolored Sharpies! Everything will be provided while supplies last.

DESIGN YOUR OWN TOTE BAG

Saturday, September 17 | 2:30-4:30 pm | Teens | Register
Carry your books in style when you show off your artistic talents with a tote bag you create yourself! All supplies will be provided. Space is limited, so pre-registration is encouraged. Teens 12-19 are welcome to join us for this program!

RIVERFRONT WALK & TALK 
Riverfront Park
Wednesday, September 21 | 6:00-7:00 PM | Adults
Join us for a stroll along the Riverwalk in Springfield to learn more about the plants and animals that live in the Connecticut River Watershed. Jennifer Lapis, Park Ranger for U.S. Fish & Wildlife, will lead the walk starting at Riverfront Park. Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes. A few pair of binoculars will be on hand for the walk, but participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have them. While this event is primarily for adults, all ages are welcome!

Bring your device and technology-related questions and issues to our monthly Drop-In Tech Help session. Whether you want to learn how to attach files to emails, borrow audiobooks on your phone, or see what that update message is about- we are here to help!
Registration is not required, but time may be limited in order to assist all attendees.
