Introducing a Creative Collaboration: Whittier Public Library Partners with Río Hondo College Library's Zine Outreach Project
The Whittier Public Library is excited to announce its collaboration with Río Hondo College Library's Zine Outreach Project, a dynamic initiative aimed at empowering the Río Hondo College campus and Whittier area communities, with a special focus on engaging teens and young adults in the art of self-expression through zine creation. Made possible through funding from UCLA and the Mellon Foundation, this innovative project has found a vital sponsor in the Whittier Public Library Foundation.
For those new to the world of zines, they are self-made, mini-magazines that provide a platform for individuals to share their thoughts, experiences, and creative expressions in a unique and personal way.
In the coming months, the Whittier Public Library will serve as a hub of creativity and inspiration by hosting a series of Zine workshops scheduled for October and November. These workshops are designed to nurture storytelling skills and encourage the crafting of unique narratives that reflect the rich tapestry of our diverse community.
Stay tuned for more details on these exciting opportunities to explore the world of zines, share your stories, and connect with fellow creators right here in Whittier. We can't wait to embark on this creative journey with you!
