Author talk with Jeffrey Archer Saturday, October 15, 2022 10:00 a.m. Internationally bestselling author, Jeffrey Archer, will be joining us via Zoom from his home in the U.K. to discuss his latest thriller, Next in Line, on Saturday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m. Send us an email to be put on the list to receive the Zoom access code that will be delivered to your inbox the day before the event. Hardcover copies of the book will be available for $20, payable in cash at pick up at the Port Carling branch. Please let us know via email if you want to purchase the book. A signed bookplate will be included in your order. Your camera and mic will automatically be disabled but you can participate in the discussion and ask questions through the chat feature of Zoom even while enjoying that morning coffee in your pajamas!

Community Coffee Break First Tuesday of the month, October to March Join us for a coffee break, upstairs at the Port Carling branch from10:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 to meet, munch, mingle, and chat with others from the community with a hot cup of tea or coffee in hand. We supply the coffee and tea! This is a wonderful way to meet and engage with community through the shorter days of the year. Our November 1st coffee break will feature a talk at 11:00 a.m. with author J. Patrick Boyer. |

Book Club Second Wednesday of the month, October to March Join us in the Heritage Room at the Port Carling branch on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. for thought-provoking conversation about the book of the month. As this will be our first Book Club meeting, we will discuss and choose book selections for the following months. Come with your ideas! All welcome!

Pre-school Story Time Wednesdays, September 21 to November 23 Pre-school babies and children, born 2019-2022, and their caregivers are invited to the 10-week fall session of story time on Wednesday mornings at the Port Carling branch. Free play 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the activity room followed by circle time in the children's department on the upper level from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Kniterary Thursdays, September to March No need to knit alone through the fall and winter! Drop in to to Port Carling branch for Kniterary to share patterns, get inspiration, discuss your latest yarn project, or venture into book discussion and conversations with other knitters and needlecrafters of all abilities from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Bring your project and get knitting! We encourage you to bring your own mug to also enjoy a cup of tea while knitting and chatting.

First Nations Public Library Week Bekaa, Bzindaachagan Wait and Listen Anishinabemowin, the original language of the Ojibwe people, is an active language that integrates concepts of the natural world and spirituality. Bekaa is a command that is told to people who are being impatient or brash. The act of waiting and listening to what someone has to say is a form of respect and offers listeners the opportunity to learn new perspectives.
