This November, while our community is pausing for gratitude and giving of thanks, we also celebrate Native American Heritage Month. We acknowledge that Sherwood Public Library is located on Tualatin Kalapuya Land, or as they call themselves: Atfalati (pronounced ah-TFAH-lah-tee). We express our respect for all indigenous people and the important connections they have to their homelands across Oregon and throughout the world. Library staff endeavor to share resources that reflect accurate portrayals of local and regional indigenous heritage and their contributions. Find recommended reads for all ages in our curated lists within this newsletter. Learn more about the Atfalati peoples, resources, and pronunciations at sherwoodoregon.gov/library/land.
