Banned Books Week (October 1-7, 2023) is an annual event of the American Library Association celebrating the freedom to read and highlighting the value of free and open access to information. Public libraries affirm the right and responsibility of parents to guide their children’s library use, and the right of Americans to choose their own reading material. FUN FOR ONES Fun for Ones is the perfect next step for your walking one-year-old. We will sing, dance, read, and create an experience for you and your child to grow the love of books and reading at this in-person event. CITIZENSHIP CLASSES / CLASES DE CIUDADANÍA Volunteers from Mission: Citizen will offer a free citizenship course that will cover U.S. history, the structure of government, civil rights, and basic civic concepts. The course is in English, and presenters are able to answer questions in English, Spanish, and other languages. Each class covers a different topic. Thursdays, October 5 - December 14, 5:30-6:30 p.m. (No class on November 23.) Voluntarios de Mission:Citizen ofrecerán un curso gratis que cubirá la historia de los Estados Unidos, la estructura de gobiemo, derechos civiles y conceptos cívicos básicos.
