Starting this month, the Northwest Reno Library's makerspace, the Tinkertorium, will be open every Thursday from 3:30-5 pm. The first, second, and third Thursdays of each month will be devoted to maker and STEAM activities such as 3D printing, Stikbots, button making, and building on the new Lego wall. Every fourth Thursday will be all about experiencing virtual reality with our VR headsets and Oculus system. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Some sessions have activities planned in advance.
Learn how sound waves create different tones. Make new sounds with a variety of singing bowls, wooden percussion instruments, and tuning forks. Make a straw oboe and a craft stick harmonica, or experiment with a theremin, an electronic musical instrument that you play without actually touching.
The Sound of Science Idea Box will be at the Sparks Library through March.
