National Friends of Libraries Week October 20-26, 2024 Celebrate with Us!

Next week is National Friends of Libraries Week, an annual celebration coordinated by United for Libraries honoring the work of friends of library organizations nationwide.


Our partner organization, the Friends of Washoe County Library is a member-supported nonprofit dedicated to advocating, fundraising, and providing support for the Washoe County Library System. Dracula: The Ballet Teaser

Don’t miss the teaser for this original ballet, directed and choreographed by award-winning artist Ananda Bena-Weber. Fans of horror and tango alike will love this classic story set to the thrilling and passionate music of Astor Piazzolla. Participants will get a sneak peek of this performance, and there will be a Q&A session with the choreographer and the performers

The MixUp Gaming Master Cup

Tuesday, October 22, 4–7 pm

Spanish Springs Library

In our newly renovated Teens Only space, teens age 12-19 will engage in virtual gladiatorial combat through a variety of classic and new games to see who is the true Master! Snacks will be provided, skills will be tested, fun will be had, and blood will be spilled (but not really).

Tutoring and Homework Help

Thursday, October 24, 3:30–5:30 pm

Sierra View Library

First through sixth grade students can receive free tutoring and homework help from library-trained volunteers. First come, first served for homework help; students needing a tutor will be assigned an appointment time.
