NAVY BAND NORTHWEST WOODWIND QUARTET

We will be hosting the Navy Band Northwest Woodwind Quartet for a series of concerts at several of our libraries. The quartet is composed of a flute, two clarinets, and a bassoon. They perform a variety of musical styles, including an eclectic blend of classical and Americana.

Multiple times and locations

Tsurunokai brings the ancient art of Japanese taiko drumming to the children of Northern Nevada. Tsurunokai performs traditional Japanese folk music as well as original compositions. Patrons will be invited to participate in drumming and dancing during the performance.

Join us for an afternoon with Pulitzer Prize finalist and PEN/Faulkner Award winner Hernan Diaz, author of In the Distance and Trust. Diaz holds a Ph.D. from NYU and edits, the Spanish-language journal Revista Hispanica Moderna, at Columbia University. This is a virtual event and registration is required.

The History and Culture of the Washoe Peoples

The Washoe peoples have lived at Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas since time immemorial. This talk will help those who live in the area today gain a greater understanding of what the landscape, wildlife, and people who lived here were like in the past and how they have worked to preserve their way of life.
