National Radon Action Month
 
For National Radon Action Month, the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension's Nevada Radon Education Program will be offering informational presentations and free radon test kits.
 
Radon is the primary cause of lung cancer among nonsmokers. One in four homes tested in Nevada has elevated radon concentrations.

A History of Lake Tahoe's Washoe Indians
 
A historical overview of the Washoe (Wašhiw) people, whose ancestors began occupying the Tahoe region up to 10,000 years ago.
 
Presented by Matthew Makley, author of the book The Small Shall Be Strong.

World's Largest Casino
 
 
Starting as a hole-in-the-wall operations on Virginia Street, Harold’s Club expanded to become the largest casino in the world, helping to put Reno on the map.

All Washoe County Libraries will be closed on January 1 in observance of New Year's Day and on January 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The North Valleys Library will also be closed on January 21.
