Discover & Go Museum Passes
Looking for something to do this spring break?
 
Through Discover & Go, there are four local institutions offering free or discounted passes to Washoe County Library card holders: the Nevada Museum of Art, the National Automobile Museum, Fleischmann Planetarium, and the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum. There are also dozens of Northern California museums, science centers, theaters, zoos, and other cultural attractions offering free or reduced price passes.

This service is only available to library card holders who are Washoe County residents.

Join The Discovery Museum in this fun STEAM pop-up event. In celebration of Women's History Month, we are highlighting women science fiction writers and will be doing a solar house project. Sign up for a 15-minute session.

This workshop features local experts on topics that include planning your will and/or trust, power of attorney, duties of executors and successor trustees, protecting digital assets, long-term care considerations and more. A comprehensive workbook is included.

Nazanin Arastoo Puppet Theater
Lost in the Forest
Friday, March 25, 11 am-noon

Lost in the Forest is an original puppet play about a little boy whose misadventures while lost in the forest lead to a host of hilarious and meaningful encounters, bringing him knowledge and transformation.
 
Puppeteer Nazanin Arastoo's shows are inspired by the traditional Persian puppet shows from her childhood in Iran and the ancient art of puppetry from around the world. Her interactive performances include her own unique puppet designs and handcrafted puppets from various countries.

Learn and Make in the Quad

This week we will be working with the sublimation printer and heat press. We'll provide you with a coffee mug, coaster, or metal bookmark (limit one item per person), and you can transfer a vivid, full-color design or photograph onto it. Bring an image file (.png or .jpg) on a flash drive or your phone, and leave with a vibrant, one-of-a-kind item.

In alignment with updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, masks are recommended at all library locations for visitors 2 years of age or older.

The Sparks Library is currently closed for renovations. It is expected to reopen in April.
 
If you have items on hold to pick up at the Sparks Library, visit our online catalog to choose an alternate location.
