Washoe County Library System is raising $20,000 to purchase 1,000 new picture books to support early literacy in Washoe County.
You can help by sponsoring a book with a $20 donation to this initiative. A larger donation will purchase even more. Donate at your local branch or visit washoecountylibrary.us/kidsbooks
Winter Reading 2017: Chill Out & Read!
December 15 - January 15
Kids and teens are encouraged to "Chill Out and Read!" during winter break. Sign up on the library website beginning December 15 to earn free books and play fun games while keeping track of winter break reading.
Now, you can visit some of Northern Nevada and Northern California's best museums and cultural institutions free with your Washoe County Library Card and Discover & Go.
This popular woodwind quintet will perform favorite holiday classics. Enjoy selections from The Nutcracker, Christmas carols, and other seasonal music. Featuring Mary Ann Lazzari (flute), Kelsey Edmondson (oboe), Jennifer Day (clarinet), Ben Benson (bassoon), and Bruce Kanzelmeyer (horn).

In-Tune Tales Presents: The Grinch
Bring the magic of the holiday season to life with spoken word storytelling, music, and song! In this special program, the In-Tune Tales trio performs classic holiday stories and songs in an acoustic setting with upright bass, violin, guitar, and vocals. The centerpiece of the holiday program is the beloved Dr. Seuss classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Petroglyph: The Evolution of Music
Pete Fairley of MeadowRock Percussion joins David Blonski of Timeless Productions in this exploration of music from multiple cultures and historical eras. As students experience the sounds of instruments ranging from the didgeridoo and tabla drums to guitar loops and electronic percussion, Pete and David weave a narrative linking the ancient with the modern.
