Reno Taiko Tsurunokai

Reno Taiko Tsurunokai brings the ancient art of Japanese taiko drumming to the children of Northern Nevada. Traditionally, taiko drums have been used in warfare, martial arts, religious ceremonies, and festivals throughout Japan for over 1,400 years.

Learn about the groundbreaking website and smart phone app Reno Historical from its editor, Dr. Alicia Barber. Administered by the Historic Reno Preservation Society, the interactive, multimedia platform features more than 260 entries (and counting!) about historic buildings, spaces, businesses, and landmarks throughout the city.

Library Board of Trustees Meeting


The next library board of trustees meeting will take place at the South Valleys Library on Wednesday, May 15. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend in person or remotely through Zoom.

Agendas, minutes, and recordings of past library board meetings are available on the library website.

Staff Day Closure


Libraries will be opening late on Thursday, May 16, to accommodate a staff in-service training day.


All branches will open at 2 pm, except the Duncan/Traner, Gerlach, Sparks, and Verdi libraries, which will be closed all day.
