Makers, Makers, unite! Washoe County Library System is launching a new makerspace this month with the introduction of Incline Village Library’s IV Quad. (See the schedule here.)
Like the Quad at the Downtown Reno Library, the IV Quad is a place for everyone to make, collaborate, learn, and share. Patrons will be able to explore and create on maker equipment including a 1.25 inch button maker, a sewing machine, multiple virtual reality systems (Oculus Go and Quest), and a Taz 6 3D printer.
This year's Nevada Humanities Literary Crawl will run all day on Saturday, September 14, with events at various locations around Downtown Reno. But it will all start at the Downtown Reno Library, where there will be activities from 11 am until 2 pm.
The Northern Nevada Literacy Council will hold an iSpy Family Reading Program at 11 am and again at 1 pm. Grab a scavenger hunt booklet and follow the clues to find family-friendly fun throughout the Crawl, then turn in your card at the Lake Mansion by 4 pm for a free children's book.
At the Quad, you'll have the chance to experience virtual reality and create handmade items. We will have the button maker, the vinyl cutter, and leather stamping stations available for your use, and you'll be able to peruse our other equipment.
