| Slavery and its Histories | Wednesday, February 7, 5:30–6:30 pm
Northwest Reno Library |
Slavery was central to early America, but, even 150 years after emancipation, the ways we interpret slavery’s histories remain highly politicized. This talk will offer a brief overview of African American slavery from 1619 to 1865 while raising questions about how and why histories of slavery still serve political actors as powerful tools for advancing their agendas. This event will be presented by Cameron B. Strang, Associate Professor in the History Department, University of Nevada, Reno. |
