| Greetings & salutations!
Winter Reading Ends March 31
It's the last month of our winter reading program. Don't forget to turn in your log for a chance to vote on what we add to our Library of Things. You only need to read two books to finish a log! Peruse the list of current items in GHCL's collection of "things".
How To Pause Holds
If you have plans to travel you can pause your holds so they don't come in while you are away. Pausing, or suspending, retains your place in line until you’re ready to resume. Log into into your account and go to your "on hold" page. You can pause holds when placing the request, or once you're in the line (must be active, not shipped). To change the status of a request, click the "Pause" button. Then select your resume date. You can resume paused holds at any time by clicking the "resume" button. Your active and paused holds are shown in separate blocks.
Welcome New Library Staff
We've hired two new part-time library assistants, MK and Summer! They started training in late January, so if you've been in the library in the last month, you may have met them. Summer has library experience at McMinnville Public Library, where she is currently an on-call adult reference librarian. She has an MLIS and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. MK is a neighbor and library patron. She has work experience as a teacher and career counselor, and has been a hospice and school library volunteer. She recently finished an MA in Professional Mental Health Counseling and is working part-time in that field.
GHCL Repair Fair Recap In January, over 50 people attended the Repair Fair we hosted. People brought 70 items to the event and more than 40 went home fixed or ‘in progress’. Half of those that took home a fixed/almost fixed item said that, without this event, they would have trashed, recycled or donated the item.
Thank you to Heather Robinson at Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling, and her crew of fabulous volunteer fixers, who made this event possible!!!
If you missed the event here, check out this page to see additional Repair Fairs scheduled around the county.

Live & in-person GeRoom (#7)
In March, our group will discuss Joan Didion's "The Year of Magical Thinking". The book explores an intensely personal yet universal experience: a portrait of a marriage - and a life, in good times and bad - that will speak to anyone who has ever loved a husband or wife or child.Didion's attempt to make sense of the "weeks and then months that cut loose any fixed idea I ever had about death, about illness ... about marriage and children and memory ... about the shallowness of sanity, about life itself.
