| Greetings & salutations!
Memorial Day Holiday
Memorial Day is coming and with it the unofficial start of summer (summer solstice is June 20 at 1:50 pm). The library will be closed on Monday, May 27. However, our digital library of ebooks, downloadable audiobooks, digital newspapers and magazines, and Kanopy streaming video is available 24/7 on wccls.org.
Memorial Day was first celebrated on May 30, 1868, as a national day of remembrance. The holiday honors and mourns U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. From 1868 to 1970, it was observed on May 30. Beginning in 1971, it is observed on the last Monday of May.
Our annual Summer Reading Program starts June 1. Stay tuned! More details will be shared in our June e-newsletter. |
