Hello West Slope Community Library patrons,

Thank you for all your emails and phone calls wishing us well and telling us how excited you are about our new takeout service! It means a lot to all of us to hear from you and we appreciate your ongoing support.

Did you know that the library is celebrating our 70th anniversary this year?

Back in January the team started to organize one of our closets and we came across the notebook that contained the handwritten list of the library’s first registered borrowers. I got a little emotional seeing names and addresses listed and I wondered if they were all penned by Betty Snodgrass – West Slope Library’s first director - herself.

It also got me thinking not only about how far we’ve come, but where the next 70 years will take our library. West Slope has expanded and embraced technology in ways Betty wouldn’t comprehend. But we’re aware of and are grateful to all those whose vision and hard work made today possible.

This year – it's our turn to move West Slope Library forward for the next generation of library patrons. The opportunities we have to make lasting contributions to our library are thrilling.

As we look towards the future, we would love to hear your stories of the past. If you have photos, library stories, memories or experiences that we could share we would love to hear from you! Email us at westslope@wccls.org. With your permission we would love to highlight your memories. We think Betty would approve.

Here’s to our platinum years!

Take care,
Kristen
