Celebrate National Library Week with the Buena Park Library District from April 4-10, 2021. National Library Week is a time to highlight the essential role that libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Welcome to your library,” which promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building and that everyone is welcome to use their services. Whether people visit virtually or in person, libraries are accessible and inclusive places that foster a sense of belonging and community through learning, discovery, and exploration.

The Buena Park Library District invites you to visit, either virtually or in person, to discover the services, information, and recreation that the Library provides to enrich our community. If you have not visited the Library since before the pandemic began and have overdue items, know that Buena Park Library District is a fine free library and overdue items that are returned will not incur any late fees. The Library is open Monday through Saturday, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for in person services including computer use, shelf browsing, and holds pick-up. The Library also distributes craft kits for children and adults and provides a variety of virtual programs. Library databases that provide essential services include Help Now! for homework help for students of all ages, Job Now! for workforce development and unemployment support, and Vet Now! to connect veterans to benefits and other services. These digital resources and more are available through our website, free of charge with your Buena Park Library District library card.

The Library will also be celebrating Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros, also known as Día, on April 30, 2021. Día is a celebration of children, families, and reading that emphasizes the importance of literacy for children from all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The Buena Park Library District will be presenting virtual English, Korean, and Spanish story times on our social media. Support children’s literacy and celebrate the rich diversity of our community by enjoying the virtual story time celebration on Instagram and Facebook and by browsing the Library’s new collection of children’s books specially selected to celebrate diversity.

Thank you for your continued support of the Buena Park Library District and for allowing us to be a part of your community. We are looking forward to seeing you in person or connecting with you virtually. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@buenaparklibrary) or visit the Library’s website at www.buenaparklibrary.org for information about eResources, take home activity kits for children and adults, story time videos, and other virtual programs and reading challenges.
