Drop In Craft: Summer Snowman
Tuesday: July 2nd - Wednesday: July 3rd
Children's Room, while supplies last
Kids ages 3-12, make a summer snowman who is sadly not having the best time... he is melting in the summer sun. Take your summer snowman home, or let us display it in the Children's Room.
 
While supplies last. No registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger.   
Read with Me w/Mrs. Milch
Wednesdays: July 3rd & 10th at 1:00PM
George Bellis Park
Meet us at George Bellis Park at 7171 8th Street in Buena Park for Read with Me! Bring a chair, picnic blanket, or cushion and enjoy a story with Mrs. Milch during the summer season! Check out Buena Park’s Pop-up Library while you’re there!
Balloon Show w/ Annie Banannie
Thursday: July 8th at 6:30PM

Listen to Annie Banannie tell stories with her amazing balloon creations.
 
Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. We will begin distributing tickets at 5:30PM. Ticket will be required for entry. We will cut the line and close the doors if we reach capacity.

Read to a BARK Therapy Dog
Tuesday: July 9th at 6:45PM - 7:45PM
Children's Fiction Area
Kids 12 and younger, come read to our dog pals in the Children's fiction area. Readers will receive a time slot with a dog on a first come, first served basis. 
 
No pre-registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger. 
Sock Puppet Craft
Thursday: July 11th at 10:00AM

Kids ages 4-12, repurpose that odd sock whose mate has gone missing, and make it into a sock puppet. Please bring a clean sock that is ankle high or longer.

Pajama-rama Storytime

Join us in your pajamas for an evening of stories. Stuffed animal friends are more than welcome. Fun for the whole family.

Drop In Craft: Gratitude Box

Kids ages 3-12, decorate a miniature gratitude box. Inside, keep tiny papers with people and things you're thankful for written on them.

Meet the Firefighters
Tuesday: July 16th at 10:30AM
Library Front Lawn
Meet firefighters and see a fire truck! A firefighting presentation will begin at 10:30AM and a fire truck will arrive at 11:30AM. If called to an emergency, the fire truck might not arrive or might leave early.  
 
No registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger.  
Drop In Craft: Gold Medals

The real Olympic Games will be in Paris, but you can have your own gold medal ceremony right here in Buena Park. Drop in to create gold medals for the people you love. While supplies last.

Free Art Time
Thursday: July 18th at 10:00AM

Kids ages 4-12, express your creativity and create art using craft supplies provided by the library. Make a collage. Make a sculpture. Make anything you want.

Baby Crawl Olympics
Saturday: July 20th at 11:00AM
Children's Room
Calling all baby athletes! Compete in our Baby Crawl Olympics. The first baby to crawl across the Children’s Room and reach the finish line will win a gold medal and a small prize. All baby contestants must be accompanied by 2 caregivers (parents, grandparents, older siblings, etc.): one caregiver will be at the start line and the other at the finish line.
  • All baby contestants must be 12 months or younger on race day.
  • Race bib pickup and registration will start at 11 a.m.
  • The race will begin at approximately 11:15 a.m.
  • We will cut registration in the case of too many baby contestants.
Seating is limited. No registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger. 
Reptile Show w/ Mr. Thor
Monday: July 22nd at 6:30PM

Meet and learn about reptiles in an entertaining, educational, hands on presentation by Mr. Thor, who has set up and managed marine parks and dolphin programs.

Teen Advisory Board Meeting

Have you ever wanted to offer your own ideas or organize programs at the Buena Park Library for people your age? We want to hear from you and we want to give you volunteer hours for it!
 
Ask for a TAB application at the Reference Desk or the Children's Desk. Not sure you want to apply? Stop by our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meeting on the first Tuesday of every month in the Teen Space and ask to sit in and observe. 
 
**please note that our TAB applications are different from our Summer Teen Volunteers Application. Volunteer hours for TAB tend to be 1 hour per month, plus opportunities to earn additional hours throughout. Anyone who signs up for both will have to fill out both applications and are expected to have the time commitment to serve both entities.

We have a special surprise for our July's Summer Crafternoon! Teens, 12-18, can come and paint beautiful sun and moon plaster creations provided by Indigocookcrafts. All supplies will be provided.

Teens So Long Summer Party
