Summer Reading Program 2022
 
From June 11 to August 6, we will hold our annual summer reading program for adults, teens, and children. Readers of all ages can participate by registering at buenapark.beanstack.com or by downloading the free Beanstack app, logging their reading, and entering earned raffle tickets into prize drawings. Prizes include gift cards, Nintendo Switch Lites, a book basket, Knott’s Berry Farm tickets, and more. The first day to register is June 11, and the last day to log reading and enter raffle tickets for prizes is August 6. Read beyond the beaten path!
 
We will be taking a three-week storytime break from May 23rd through June 13th.

BARK Therapy Dogs

Kids, come read to our dog pals in the children's fiction area. Readers will receive a time slot with a dog on a first come, first served basis. 
 
All participants 2 years of age and older will be required to wear a mask while participating in this program.

Join us this month for a discussion on What the Dog Saw and Other Adventures by Malcolm Gladwell. 
 
What the Dog Saw is a compilation of 19 articles by Malcolm Gladwell that were originally published in The New Yorker which are categorized into three parts. The first part, Obsessives, Pioneers, and other varieties of Minor Genius, describes people who are very good at what they do, but are not necessarily well-known. Part two, Theories, Predictions, and Diagnoses, describes the problems of prediction. This section covers problems such as intelligence failure, and the fall of Enron. The third section, Personality, Character, and Intelligence, discusses a wide variety of psychological and sociological topics ranging from the difference between early and late bloomers to criminal profiling.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is a work of historical fiction by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The 2017 novel follows Monique, a journalist struggling to make a name for herself, after receiving an offer to interview the mysterious and reclusive 1960s Hollywood starlet Evelyn Hugo about fame, scandal, and love.

Adult DIY Club - Pollinator Bath

A pollinator bath is a simple water feeder for pollinators such as bees and butterflies. They play an important role in the environment by pollinating at least a third of our food. More pollinators means better pollination of your flowers, fruits, and vegetables.  
 
Come paint and decorate your very own simple pollinator bath to set out at home for our pollinating friends!

OC One-Stop Mobile Unit Assistance for Job Seekers

The OC One-Stop Mobile Unit is a reinvention of the OC One-Stop Center on wheels. It delivers mobile employment and workforce development services to members of the public in the County of Orange. 
 
Employment and workforce development services include:

  • Career Development Activities
  • Individual Assessments
  • Local Hiring Events 
  • and more!
The Mobile Unit will be parked in our library's parking lot on most Mondays from
