Summer Reading Kickoff
Saturday: June 10th, 10:00AM-12:00PM
Library Front Lawn
Join us on the lawn to kick off our summer reading program. Make a craft, get a caricature of your face drawn, enjoy live magic, befriend animals in the petting zoo, and more.
 
No registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger. 
Making Monday: Gratitude Box
Monday: June 12th at 3:00PM
Donna Bagley Community Room
Kids ages 4-12, decorate a miniature gratitude box. Inside, keep tiny papers with people and things you're thankful for written on them. Share with everyone what you're thankful for by adding to our "Wall of Gratitude." 
 
While supplies last. No registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger. 
Free Meals for Kids
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays
June 13th-July 27th (excluding July 4th)
10:45AM - 11:30AM
From June 13th-July 27th (excluding July 4th), join us every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:45AM to 11:30AM for free meals for kids under 18. 
 
Lunches must be consumed onsite: our front lawn and community room will be available
 
No registration required.

Stop by our craft table on the front lawn and get a free kids craft provided by a Lunch at the Library Grant (limit 1 per child, child must be present). Lunch at the Library is a project of the California State Library, supported with funds from the State of California.
Read to a BARK Therapy Dog

Children's Fiction Area
Kids 12 and younger, come read to our dog pals in the children's fiction area. Readers will receive a time slot with a dog on a first come, first served basis.

Comedy Juggling Show

Michael Rayner will wow you and make you laugh with his juggling and wacky antics. Mr. Rayner has appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden, America's Got Talent, Late Night with David Letterman, and more. Fun for the whole family.

Fantabulous Friday

Mind Bending Magic Show

Art Adventures: Paint a Birdhouse

Teen Advisory Board (TAB)
Are you passionate, creative, and wanting to represent the teens in your community? Join Buena Park Library's Teen Advisory Board! TAB is a group of teen volunteers who help plan, lead, and advise for teen programs here at the Buena Park Library in exchange for community service hours. 
 
Members should be 14-18 years old and enrolled in high school.
 
Members must be able to commit to serving a full term (6 months minimum)
 
Pick up your TAB application at the Children's Desk or email bporras@buenaparklibrary.org for any additional questions.

Express Yourself! Art Contest
June 1st-July 29th
Create a piece of art and submit it for a chance to win a prize! 
 
Pick up a contest kit from the Reference Desk, create a piece of art with the supplies provided, and submit your masterpiece to the Reference Desk by July 29th for a chance to win a $20 Target gift card.
 
All entries will be displayed in the library and may be posted to our website or social media accounts. Artwork must be family-friendly.
 
Contest kits are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. One kit per participant 19+.
Book Club for Adults

The UCCE Master Gardeners will be here to share gardening information! Learn about plants appropriate for the season and emerging tree pests affecting our trees in Orange County. 
  • ASK A MASTER GARDENER: Got a problem with rats, squirrels, aphids, or leafhoppers to name a few? Come and learn some tips for your gardening needs from novice to expert, the Master Gardeners are here to chat!
  • LEARN ABOUT WORMS & COMPOSTING: Red wigglers available for purchase.
  • LEARN ABOUT EMERGING TREE PESTS: Learn about the Citrus Psyllid and Huanglongbing, a disease causing large areas in OC to be quarantined. Learn about the beetles that are destroying thousands of trees in Orange County. Learn how to recognize them and what you need to do. See close up what the beetles look like.
  • FREE plant for each visitor. Additional plants $1 & up.
