Plant Portraits - Weeds to Wildflowers: Watercolor Exhibit by Kim Heise

The artist's goal in these beautiful renderings of Florida native plants that are culturally known as weeds is to increase understanding and appreciation of these native species, make native plants accessible to a wider audience, and encourage people to stop indiscriminate pesticide use and include these plants in landscaping.

The Beauty of Bones, by Angela Belmonte January 8th - February 16th, during regular library hours Spanish River Library These colored pencil drawings by artist Angela Belmonte feature an ancient art form called X-Ray Art, which depicts the skeletal frame and internal organs of animals. X-Ray Art is a symbolic representation meant to honor the soul and spirit of the animal. Her artistic style and interest in bones is inspired by the rock wall paintings of the Aboriginal people of Australia.
