What's New at Boca Raton Public Library
A New Calendar Is Coming Your Way!

It’s hard to believe we are already headed into March, and the days just seem to keep flying off the calendar! Speaking of calendars, we are very excited to announce the launch of a new Library programming calendar on March 27th!

What does that mean for Library users?
  1. Informative event description pages
  2. Intuitive searching and filtering
  3. Simpler registration process for one or more participants simultaneously
  4. Integration of Library calendar events with Outlook, Google Calendar, and more
  5. Reservation of Book-a-Librarian or Next Level Instruction appointments through the calendar
We are confident that you will find the new calendar as exciting and easy to use as we do, but we also recognize that changes in technology can sometimes be hard to navigate at first. Don’t worry! Our talented Library team members are always here to help get you acclimated to the new software.

In the meantime, you can still register for all of our classes and programs on our current calendar. Check out our exciting March programs below and sign up now!

Women's History Month
Author Talk and Book Signing with Lynne Olson
Tuesday, March 7, 11:00am-12:00pm

Join author Lynne Olson as she discusses her new novel, Empress of the Nile. In the 1960s, the world’s attention was focused on a nail-biting race against time: an attempt to rescue more than a dozen priceless Egyptian temples from drowning. But the massive press coverage of this remarkable rescue effort -- the greatest of its kind in history -- completely overlooked one essential element of the story: the gutsy French woman archaeologist who made it happen. Book signing will follow the event, and books will be available for purchase.

Directed by Steven Spielberg. No registration required.

Library Team Member Spotlight
Name: John Campbell
Title: Teen Programs Coordinator

What I Do: I plan and present programs and activities that appeal to tweens and teens. One of the main programs I run (with help from the Library team) is the Tween Library Lounge program for local middle schoolers who come to Spanish River Library every afternoon after school. This program provides entertaining ways for tweens/teens to decompress and socialize after school. Currently, I am teaching acting, podcasting and video-recording classes for tweens/teens. Throughout the year, I coordinate and conduct the teen book club and teen graphic novel club. I also serve as the teen volunteer coordinator for the Library so teens can have an opportunity to earn community service hours.

Why I Love My Job: When I was a kid, I didn’t have access to a local library, so I love having the opportunity to create welcoming spaces for people who may not always feel welcome. And I love working with tweens and teens because every day is a new experience. I never know what to expect, so it keeps things interesting.
