Send Us Some Love During National Library Week library users can share with us and others why they love the library. These “love notes” will be posted around the library desk for the community to read. At the end of the week, the notes will be put into a drawing and the lucky winner will receive a small prize. Cooperative Extension: Become a Scam Detective Tuesday, April 9 at noon Lewisville Branch Auditorium Everyone should be aware of the types of scams that you may encounter and how to protect yourself. In this program you will learn ways to recognize the red flags that you are being targeted so you can prevent it from happening to you. Bring your lunch and learn with us during this virtual workshop! If you wish to participate from home, you may register directly with the N.C. Cooperative Extension through Eventbrite.

Books for Dudes Book Club Thursday, April 11 at 6 p.m. Lewisville Branch Multipurpose Room Are you a dude who likes to read? Are you a dude who is curious what other dudes are reading? Are you a dude who wants to get back into reading, but doesn’t know where to start? Then the Lewisville Branch Library has the perfect book club for you. Join us as dudes share, discuss, and recommend their favorite books to other dudes. There will not be a pre-set reading list. The group is recommended for dudes, but all are welcome. The group meets every second Thursday at 6 p.m.

Bird Songs: A Concert with Michael and Hazel Kuehn, Piano and Photography Ensemble Monday, April 22 at 6 p.m. Lewisville Branch Auditorium Go on a birding trail through music and photography as local musician Michael Kuehn and his wife and photographer, Hazel, present Bird Songs. One part music, one part photography, and one part poetry, this is a multi-faceted celebration of our feathered friends. The inspiring visuals that Hazel captures find their sonic counterpart in Michael’s compositions. Background on how Bird Songs came about and information for each piano piece about the bird species and how the music evokes their specific traits will be shared. Nature Notebooks Now until May 31 Pick up your Nature Notebook at the Lewisville Branch Library while supplies last. Find plants that are native to North Carolina in the wild and draw them. When you’ve drawn a plan in each required category, bring your notebook to the Lewisville Branch Library by May 31 for a prize. Each Nature Notebook comes with a packet of wildflower seeds. Are you an experienced player who would like a place to meet up and have adventures? Join the Lewisville Branch Dungeons & Dragons meetup group! We will have an experienced Game Master to teach those who want to learn, and character sheets and dice will be provided. This program is recommended for teens, but all are welcome. Family-Friendly Films: Wonka (PG) Wednesday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m. Lewisville Branch Auditorium This fantasy musical film follows the story of Willy Wonka, the famous but eccentric chocolatier based on the character from Roald Dahl's novel. In particular, it emphasizes his rise to the top. The narrative traces his beginnings as a young adult who started as an employee selling chocolate in a store until he became driven to enter the chocolate industry eventually. This film acts as a prequel to the 1971 film adaptation of Dahl's novel. Starring

Friends Ongoing Book Sale The Friends' ongoing book sale is always open during library hours. Donations welcome. PRICES: Hardbacks - $2 Paperbacks - $1 Children's books - $.50 Movies, music, audiobooks - $2 Magazines - $.25 Become a Friends Board Member The Friends of the Lewisville Library Board is looking for new members. As a board member, you'd take an active role in shaping the future of the organization, allocating funds, fundraising and recruiting new members. If you're looking for a way to volunteer in your community and support the library at the same time, then this is a perfect place to start.

The Friends are accepting donations of new, used, or broken fashion jewelry. Join the Friends and support your local library. If you'd like to know more about the Friends of the Lewisville Library or how to become a member, please stop by the library to pick up a brochure. You can also join their Facebook page, even if you're not a member. All funds raised by the Friends support the Lewisville Branch Library in many wonderful ways--providing new books, audiobooks, DVDs, library supplies, programs and other much-needed items.
