Everyone Has Their Own Story |
A widow's struggle in mid-century Ireland; a fairy tale recast in New York speakeasies in the Roaring Twenties; a man's journey out of slavery.

The Mapinguary is a creature from the Amazon rainforest, standing seven feet tall or more on two legs. It emits a strong, extremely unpleasant smell, and has thick, matted fur covering a carapace that makes it nearly impossible to injure with weapons.
The Giant Beaver's clashes with the hero Gluskap left such an impression on the landscape of eastern Canada that it's still possible to see some of the results today.
The Bunyip is an Australian monster that lives in swamps and other watery environments. Descriptions of it vary widely, but it's sometimes depicted as a predator that eats humans.
Descriptions of the Questing Beast from Arthurian legends also vary, but it's commonly said to have had the head and neck of a snake, the body of a leopard, the hindquarters of a lion, and the feet of a deer.

"Just Mercy is the true story of a real-life hero battling systemic racism in the United States criminal justice system. This book may make you disheartened, overwhelmed, disappointed, and less ignorant. Everyone needs to read this book." - Rachael P., Cornelius Public Library
"This book is about a man's spiritual journey and finding God. Donald Miller, once a Portland local, is a great storyteller -- this is a book everyone can enjoy. Don's failures and triumphs are so real they resonate in a positive way." - Rachael P., Cornelius Public Library
"A question many of us are asking ourselves right now is 'how do we approach race in schools?' This book shares the experiences and opinions of many who have been working to answer that question. It breaks down the language used about race, the origins of words like Caucasian, and the completely wrong ideas people have about skin color." - Rachael P., Cornelius Public Library
