Sheep to Sweater Series: Field Trip to Windy Wool Windings Farm Wed. | March 2 | 2-4pmJoin us for a tour of Windy Wool Windings Farm to learn all about how yarn is made from the source: sheep! We will discover how roving wool is cleaned and prepared for spinning and observe how a spinning wheel transforms roving wool into yarn. Finally, we will explore the finished product of the process, wool yarn. This field trip will take place outdoors so prepare for weather and mud as well as a terrain that includes up and down hill path ways. This field trip is for all ages. Registration is required. Local Author Meredith Ritchie, Poster Girls Tues. | March 15 | 6pmMeet Charlotte-based author Meredith Ritchie and learn about her new novel Poster Girls. Set in 1943, Poster Girls tells the stories of Maggie Slone and Kora Bell, two military wives from completely different backgrounds, as they work at the massive and dangerous Shell Assembly Plant located in Charlotte, NC during WWII. Told from two perspectives, Poster Girls is driven by the true but forgotten events and accomplishments of a diverse group of ordinary American women. Ritchie will read from her book, discuss her writing process, and have copies of her book available to sell and sign. Join us for this event to learn more about this up-and-coming local author!
