PINE BUSH SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD PROPOSES $135,629,641 BUDGET FOR 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR VOTE TUESDAY, MAY MAY 16th Voters go to polls May 16 for budget vote, to create a capital reserve fund account and board of education election; Tax levy increases 1.5 percent Pine Bush Central School District residents will vote on a $135,629,641 budget on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, as well as elect two board of education members. Voters will also decide whether to create a capital reserve fund account in which unappropriated district funds can be reassigned and used for a future capital project. The proposed tax levy will increase by 1.5 percent or $909,795, for a total of $61,562,815. This budget is 5.33 percent more than the current year’s budget, an increase of $6.87 million. State aid increased 9.4 percent, providing nearly $6 million in additional aid over the current year’s figure. The district will also use $2,896,756 in fund balance for this budget. The tax levy is the amount of money raised by taxes. Fund balance is money that was previously collected by the district but not appropriated. Budget revenue includes state aid, property taxes, fund balance and other sources such as tuition, interest, continuing education fees, BOCES reimbursements, and late tax fees, to name a few.

The time has come to apply for the Orange County Youth Bureau’s Summer Youth Government Immersion Program! The information provided in the application will be used to do our best to match youth to one of their top 3 requested departments, if possible. Youth are asked to please take the time to submit a complete application that includes the details need to help with the matching process. The County Executive’s Office, Office of Human Resources, and Orange County Youth Bureau will be offering positive, unpaid work experiences for local high school students, currently in grade 10 through graduating seniors who live and/or attend school in Orange County, NY. Selected youth will be matched to county departments that have available volunteer opportunities. Please note that slots are limited. Reliable transportation and a consistent time commitment are required. *Completed applications are due back to the Orange County Youth Bureau, no later than June 2, 2023. Here is a short list of the charitable initiatives we are currently a part of: Bullville Methodist Church Food Pantry We are collecting any and all food items as well as cleaning supplies, PPE, hygiene products, baby products, etc. Donations can be dropped off at either the main library or community center. Jewish Family Service At Jewish Family Service of Orange County, we are dedicated to welcoming all members of the entire Orange County community connecting them to resources and services that can provide support and comfort. Lions Club International Recycle For Sight You can drop off your gently used eye glasses in the collection box at the community center. Keep an eye on our website, Facebook page, and newsletter for any new opportunities to give back. In the last two years we have created a YouTube channel, gotten a pass so you can access NY State Parks for free, created unique programs such as stargazing and Next Stop Adventure, brought in someone to help you with your technology problems and more. Now we want to hear from YOU, our loyal patrons. Tell us what programs, activities, services, etc. you want your favorite library to offer.
