The Pine Bush Library has a long history of working with community partners in an effort to reach out to the less fortunate among us. From acting as a collection point to handing out scholarships and everything in between, the Pine Bush Library and our patrons are always doing our best to give back.

While most of us feel helpless when confronted with geopolitical machinations of this scale, there are ways you can help the citizens of Ukraine right now.

Here is a short list of verified reputable charitable organizations you can donate to.

Global Empowerment Mission

Global Empowerment Mission is on the ground in the tiny village of Medyka, Poland, using donations to buy refugees train and plane tickets to help them reach any family or friends they may have in Europe.

World Central Kitchen
For many refugees, food is an immediate need. Chef Jose Andrés has set up his World Central Kitchen on the ground at the Ukraine-Poland border providing warm meals for the hungry.

Americares
Americares has deployed an emergency response team to Krakow, Poland, to provide aid to the Ukrainian refugees there. According to their press release, they have been sending "large-scale shipments of medicine and relief supplies" to the refugees and are prepared to "deliver medicine, medical supplies, emergency funding and relief items to the region" at will.

What Can Your Library Do For You?

We here at the Pine Bush Library are always thinking of new, educational, and fun ways to serve our patrons. In the last two years we have created a YouTube channel, gotten a pass so you can access NY State Parks for free, created unique programs such as stargazing and Next Stop Adventure, brought in someone to help you with your technology problems and more.

Now we want to hear from YOU, our loyal patrons. Tell us what programs, activities, services, etc. you want your favorite library to offer.

If you have an idea for a new program, activity, service, event or anything else please reach out. You can email us PBL@rcls.org, call us 845-744-4265 ext. 2, send us a message on Facebook @PineBushPublicLibrary or just come by the Community Center and tell us in person.
