Summer Read-A-ThonJuly 5 - August 31 17 years old and younger Pick up packets with pledge sheet, book log and envelope at the library or find everything you need here. Do what you already love to do while helping the Gardiner Library! Find sponsors to pledge money for every book you read. Sponsors can pledge a certain amount of money per book read or they can pledge simply for participating in the read-a-thon.
Prizes for participating, most money raised and most books read in 2 age categories and community service hours available.

Birding Walks with Minnewaska Park Educator Nick Martin 8 - 9:30 AM Meet at the Gardiner Library lower parking area. Although bird-centered Nick will take time to explore and identify trees, flowers, rocks and other kinds of animals. Take an approximately one-mile walk on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail and wander through Majestic Park. Participants are encouraged to wear waterproof boots or shoes, bring binoculars, a birding field guide or a smart device with a field guide installed.

The Ukeleleans are back! Ukelele Club Wednesday, July 14 (2nd Wednesdays) 6 - 8 PM Meets outside on the back stage and patio All ages welcome, from beginner to experienced. The aim is to encourage one another along as we have fun with this uniquely upbeat instrument. Individuals will be given the opportunity to perform for the group, if they desire, building confidence to perform in front audiences.
Jeff Pfeffer has been playing the ukulele for 20+ years, giving lessons to beginners along the way. He particularly enjoys tin-pan-alley, novelty songs, and sing-a-longs, with a focus on performance.

History Matters: Tulsa 1921Tuesday, July 6 6:30 PM Register here for this virtual event sponsored by the Cornwall Public Library. Earl Miller presents on the 100-year anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre also known as the "Black Wall Street Massacre". Mr. Miller will examine the historical context of the atrocity while paying respect to the lives, businesses and homes destroyed. His grandfather pastored one of the churches that was destroyed. The 1921 Tulsa Massacre and was one of the worst race riots in U.S. history. Earl Miller, an educator and community bridge-builder, has received numerous recognitions, including by chapters of the NAACP and from the NYS Legislature as well as being inducted into the Rockland County Civil Rights/Human Rights Hall of Fame.
