The Gardiner Library and Wild Ones Mid-Hudson Valley are hosting a native plant sale to complement the library’s pollinator garden. The small plants, called landscape plugs, are much less expensive than container plants and an excellent way to keep costs down while trying out some new plants. Proceeds to benefit the library. Co-Founder of the Wild Ones Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter and Master Gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension will be available to answer all gardening questions.

Virtual "Dining in America" Presentation with Julie MarescoMonday, April 15 6:30 - 7:30 PM Register here.“Dining in Early America” will cover cooking and dining traditions in the American home in the 18th and early 19th centuries. We will look at five period rooms from the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Museum: a kitchen, a tavern, and three different spaces for dining. Julie Maresco is a Correspondent Docent with the DAR Museum in Washington DC. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from SUNY New Paltz and a Master of Arts degree in Public History and Historic Preservation from Middle Tennessee State University.

Beekeeping and Honeybees Presentation by Robert Rawluck Saturday, April 20 1 - 2 PM No registration required. Get a brief history of beekeeping, methods, and equipment used in the past and present. See and understand the honey collection process, and why it is healthier to eat locally produced honey. Observe live honeybees at work in a safe environment. Bob Rawluck is the President of the Ulster County Beekeeper Association, and will be happy to answer questions regarding the club and its mission.

Journey to Spring Art Reception by Laura PhillipsApril 20 (art shown through May 29) 4- 7 PM “Journey to Spring” depicts the wanderings of my creative soul, finding my way toward connection to both nature and divine spirit. Representing an inner spiritual path, as well as real life’s transitions and experiences, this journey encompasses over 30 years of visual and personal emergence, culminating in a very vernal awakening. Pieces include paintings, photography, mixed media, and collage. Laura has a BFA in design from The Fashion Institute of Technology, (FIT) and a Masters degree from Queens College. After working briefly as a designer, she became an art educator at a public school where she taught art for 30 years. Laura is now grateful and excited to spend her days in her studio called “Spirit’s Nest” or outside in nature where she is always inspired.

Dr. Ornella Lepri Mazzuca is a native speaker of Italian and has been facilitating the conversational class at the Gardiner Library since 2016. She graduated from the University of Urbino, Italy, with a Doctorate in English, French and Italian. She later earned an MA in Spanish and Linguistics and a PhD in Spanish Literature.

Items accepted include: Oral care products (empty toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, floss containers), corks, empty ink cartridges, empty pens/highlighters/markers, caps and pencils (mechanical and wooden), razors and outer packaging and crayons.
