The Gardiner Library Craft, Fabric, and Yarn Sale will take place this year on Saturday September 21. Extra hands are always needed to help us sort and organize all the wonderful donations we receive. Tussie Mussies (The Language of Flowers) Workshop with Elissa Rinaldo Sunday, June 9 10 - 11:30 AM For the Victorians, tussie-mussies were an art form that also relayed a special message in the language of flowers. In this workshop, bouquets arranged from a special selection of flowers and herbs will be made into a personalized tussie-mussie bouquet. Reading material and floral vocabulary lists will be provided. Floral Artisan Elissa Rinaldo has been creating floral environments as well as teaching workshops for over 40 years. She has combined her extensive visual arts background and her horticultural education to make a career that includes her love of gardening and nature.

Join the Library's Teen Advisory Board (TAB)12 years and older Summer is a great time to fulfill community service hours. TAB participants help the library with upcoming events and programs, and can create their own programming too. Volunteering time at the library can be used to fulfill community service hours for Honor Society, school/community responsibilities where public service hours are required, or on job and college resumes.

Community ReikiFirst Sundays noon - 2 PM First come, first served. Free 20 minute reiki sessions. Recipients sit in a chair or lie on a comfortable table, clothed, while the practitioner lightly places hands on or above the recipient. The effect is of peace and deep rest for the recipient. HV Community Reiki has been providing Reiki sessions at the Gardiner Library since 2017.

Virtual Italian Conversational Class Wednesdays (last class for the semester 5/22) 5:30 - 6:30 PM Register here to receive Zoom link (same link every week).This weekly class is designed for people who have some knowledge of the Italian language and would like to improve their conversational skills. Dr. Ornella Lepri Mazzuca is a native speaker of Italian and has been facilitating the conversational class at the Gardiner Library since 2016. She graduated from the University of Urbino, Italy, with a Doctorate in English, French and Italian. She later earned an MA in Spanish and Linguistics and a PhD in Spanish Literature.

Journey to Spring Art Exhibition by Laura PhillipsApril 3 - June 2 “Journey to Spring” depicts the wanderings of my creative soul, finding my way toward connection to both nature and divine spirit. Representing an inner spiritual path, as well as real life’s transitions and experiences, this journey encompasses over 30 years of visual and personal emergence, culminating in a very vernal awakening. Pieces include paintings, photography, mixed media, and collage. Laura has a BFA in design from The Fashion Institute of Technology, (FIT) and a Masters degree from Queens College. After working briefly as a designer, she became an art educator at a public school where she taught art for 30 years. Laura is now grateful and excited to spend her days in her studio called “Spirit’s Nest” or outside in nature where she is always inspired.

Tiny Roost Summer Exhibit: The Four Disagreements by Tyson Hauf and Nataly Z. Goldfisch Presentation (outdoors): Friday, June 14 at 4 PMOutdoor gallery is accessible 24/7. Learn more about Meadow and the exhibit here. Nataly is an Associate Professor at the SUNY New Paltz. Her area of research focuses on the intersectionality between philosophy of mathematics education, aesthetics, and deep ecology and has authored numerous books and articles Tyson has performed and shown his work in several states over the last two decades. His preference for exhibitions are outside the traditional art world, consisting of popup art displays, street performances, and improvisational creative outbursts/situations. Key themes in his work include joy, transformation of sickness into health, deterioration, disparity, alienation, rust, industry, roots, altered states of consciousness and post-rapture spiritual economy.
