Virtual Italian Conversational Class

This weekly class is designed for people who have some knowledge of the Italian language and would like to improve their conversational skills.
 
Dr. Ornella Lepri Mazzuca is a native speaker of Italian and has been facilitating the conversational class at the Gardiner Library since 2016. She graduated from the University of Urbino, Italy, with a Doctorate in English, French and Italian. She later earned an MA in Spanish and Linguistics and a PhD in Spanish Literature from the University at Albany.

From Start to Finish Writing Workshop Series with Grace Bialecki

How many unfinished pieces of writing do you have on your computer? Join us for a three-session workshop where we'll break down the drafting and revision process into specific tasks, and learn how to see a piece through from start to finish. Open to writers of all levels who are working on short stories or essays.
 
Grace Bialecki is a writer, literary coach, and workshop facilitator. Her work has appeared in various publications including Catapult and Epiphany Magazine. Bialecki is the co-founder of the storytelling series Thirst, and the author of the novel Purple Gold.

Banned Book Club with Carol Bergman

Carol Bergman (author, educator and experienced facilitator) will guide discussions of four banned books, both classic and contemporary. Carol is a longtime member of both PEN America and the Authors Guild, two organizations that have tracked banning and started lawsuits against school districts and state legislatures. Beginner guitar lessons for young children with a gentle, playful approach. We will learn the parts of a guitar, and explore basic musical concepts such as beat, rhythm and pitch. Students will approach learning individual notes on the guitar and simple chords.

Meets at the Gardiner Library, heading to the Riverbend Trails at the transfer station/dump. Trails will start on easy fire and maintenance roads with some intermediate roads, with some intermediate flow trails when everyone is ready. Future rides will progress to more challenging trails.

Donation based slow flow vinyasa class.

Please dress to move freely. Bring your own mat and yoga props.

 
Connecting breath to movement, classes will include sun salutations, standing, balance, and seated postures.
 
Amy Laber is a certified yoga instructor with over 15 years of experience teaching students of all ages and ability levels. Her classes are an un-fixed intuitive flow, which tap into the specific energies and needs of each group.

Are you new at playing an acoustic instrument and would like to practice with some friendly, local musicians? Play Old Time, Folk songs, Bluegrass, Western and other home spun type songs. Participants play at a slower pace so everyone will have a chance to learn the songs. No audience, no pressure, just lots of fun.

Community Reiki
First Sundays
First come, first served.

 
Members of Hudson Valley Community Reiki will offer 20-minute individual Reiki sessions. Recipients sit in a chair or lie on a comfortable table, clothed, while the practitioner lightly places hands on or above the recipient.

H.V. Community Reiki practitioners possess multiple certifications that can include Reiki I and II as well as Master level certifications in various styles.
