65TH ANNUAL MEETING
Friday, September 6, 2024 | 8 AM to 1 PM
 
Guest Speaker:  Lisa Kropp, President,
New York Library Association (NYLA) 
Keynote Address: Emily Drabinski, President, 
American Library Association (ALA)
  
 
The morning will begin with a buffet breakfast followed by Annual Awards ceremonies and a brief business meeting
which includes elections to the RCLS Board of Trustees.  Displays by member libraries will be on view throughout the event. 
A special 50/50 Raffle will be held to benefit the work of
The Freedom to Read Foundation
Tickets: $1; 6 for $5; 15 for $10; 30 for $20
To be sold at the event payable cash or check only (no advance sales). Winner must be present at time of drawing.

ALA invites library users nationwide to nominate their favorite librarians for the prestigious I Love My Librarian Award.
The national award recognizes the outstanding public service contributions of librarians working in public, school, college, community college or university libraries.
 Nominations accepted online through September 30
Ten librarians will each receive $5,000 in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

PINE BUSH LIBRARY FARM DAY
August 17th ~ 10am-4pm
 The farmers and individuals bringing their pets and harvests
are wonderful educators answering any and all questions!  
Many service organizations will be part of the event to 
make the newer families (and even older families!) aware
of what is available to assist them with their lives
A fun and educational day ~ touch, smell, and interact with
farm animals you've seen from a distance...
enjoy making new animal friendships!

Alicia Collumbell, Outreach & Partnership Specialist, Nassau Library System, will present on constructive confrontations and establishing boundaries with patrons and with co-workers

Voter Engagement: The Suffrage Timeline (online)
Monday, September 16, 2024 ~ 1:00pm - 2:30pm
This interactive session (hosted by the League of Women Voters) will move participants through a simulation regarding the right to vote. Information regarding programs and services for member libraries to engage with their communities will be provided
Credit hours - Library Staff: 1.5 hours of Continuing Education
[This session will not provide Trustee Education credit]
 
 Training: Freedom of Information Law
Thursday, October 3, 2024 ~ 1:00pm - 2:30pm
In-Person session at RCLS Headquarters
619 Rte 17M, Middletown
An overview of the Freedom of Information Law, New York’s access to records statute, will be provided by Kristin O'Neill, Deputy Director and Counsel for New York State Committee on Open Government (COOG)
Credit hours - Library Staff: 1.5 hours of Continuing Education;
Library Trustees: 1.5 hours Trustee Education
