Newburgh Free Library
Welcomes Local History Resource Center and Tech Hub!

The Newburgh Free Library held a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by 60 people on Thursday, April 27, to celebrate the opening of the new Local History Resource Center and Tech Hub. The new spaces at the library are the physical embodiment of the library’s commitment to making Newburgh’s rich historical past more accessible to the public and to spearhead digital equity efforts for members of the community.

The library was awarded a $291,328 grant from the New York State Aid for Library Construction program to help support the project. At the event, a proclamation from Senator Rob Rolison was presented to Newburgh Free Library Director Mary Lou Carolan along with a $30,000 check from Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson to help support the technology hub.The construction of these new rooms represents the first new construction in the present-day building since it opened in 1976.
