 Workshops for Vets!
Beginning February 18th, Cornwall Public Library will host a series of  free, creative writing workshops specifically open to and designed for veterans and active duty military. During the presentations by David Surface and his wife Julia Rust, participants will:
  • Learn the skills that will help them write individual stories
  • Receive valuable feedback and guidance from a published writer
  • Become part of a supportive community of writers
Offered in partnership with Veterans Writing Workshop, the project is being funded through a grant provided by Poets & Writers, Inc.
If you'd like to host a similar event at your library, please visit the
Veterans Writing Workshop website

VCL Honors MLK!

Valley Cottage Library hosted their first annual
 'I Have a Dream'
day event in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday. The event featured a 'peace' ice sculpture carved by Valley Cottage artist,
Robert Patalano, of Rockland Lake Ice Company.
Following the carving there was a performance of the 'Black National Anthem' by Chad Jean Marie.

Over 100 patrons were in attendance enjoying cookies from a black and woman owned business along with some apple cider. This wonderful event is a testament to the power of a library to create and foster community.

Outreach Service to Communities
Being online is important for everything from job hunting to finding a place to live, accessing services online, and staying in touch with friends and family. RCLS and various member libraries have partnered with Digital Navigators of the Hudson Valley to help patrons access and use technology.

Library staff members at these different locations have undergone technical training to become Digital Navigators. These Digital Navigators can assist anyone using a device, securing free or low-cost internet service, and much more. The program is FREE and open to anyone who needs help. This includes people who have devices, phone service, or internet access but need help with use, or those who require internet access.

Start spreading the news TODAY about this great resource to support internet access! CLICK on the logo below for more details, including a list of participating libraries.
